Aromatherapy
How long has aromatherapy successfully been used?
Thousands of years.
What are essential oils?
Essential oils are made from the flowers, leaves, seeds, wood and fruit of plants, usually using the distillation process. They are highly concentrated, volatile and flammable, so it’s vital to store them correctly. For therapeutic use, only 100% pure essential oils from a reputable company should be used.
What are the methods of applying essential oils?
- Vaporization - When an essential oil is vaporized, the molecules within the vapour are inhaled; the active compounds are thought to enter the body (by absorption through the lungs or olfactory mucosa), and are delivered to the brain via the bloodstream and the olfactory system, where they elicit an emotional or metabolic response. The use of essential oils via inhalation using a vaporizer (either electric or a candle burner) is very popular. Drops of oil on a pillow, tissue or swab are also effective. Citrus oils can stimulate in the morning while lavender can relax at night.
- Dermal Application - When essential oils are applied to the skin in a massage blend, the molecules are transported through the dermal layers to the capillaries and the interstitial fluids, and then distributed throughout the body, including the brain. They interact with the body’s enzymes to have the appropriate effect on the body, mind and emotions; depending on the individual oils chemical constituents.
- Massage - Massage is the most common use of essential oils, where essential oils are diluted in a carrier oil or cream. Combining this with the therapeutic power of touch is very effective. The essential oils are absorbed into the bloodstream where they have an effect on the biochemistry and systems of the body, as well as relaxing and changing the mood of the recipient through inhalation. It doesn’t have to be a full body massage – hand, foot or back massage is just as effective.
Essential oils can also be used as a compress, a steam inhalation, or added to a bath (or foot bath) for a full, relaxing experience. Room sprays or spritzers are also an effective way of deodorizing or creating a particular atmosphere in a room.
Can I use fragrant oils?
In Aromatherapy, only 100% pure essential oils, from a reputable company should be used for therapeutic use.
What can essential oils be used for?
These plant medicines can assist in the treatment of many physical and emotional conditions, such as stress related conditions, depression, immune disorders and hormone imbalances.
Are there any contra indications when using aromatherapy?
As essential oils have an effect on the biochemistry and physiology of the body, it is advisable to consult a trained aromatherapist if you have any acute or chronic condition before using therapeutic grade essential oils.
Can aromatherapy be used on babies?
Essential oils should not be used on infants under 12 months, unless on the advice of a qualified aromatherapist. Aromatherapy used in low dilutions can be used to help relieve many common childhood conditions.
Reiki
What is Subtle Aromatherapy?
Subtle Aromatherapy is a vibrational therapy. It refers to the use of essential oils in a non-physical way, having an effect on the subtle body, the psyche and the spirit, by drawing on the vibrational qualities of the oils rather than their physical properties.
The therapist does not touch the body when using Subtle Aromatherapy, however some subtle methods may be incorporated in a hands-on treatment or Reiki session. The vibrational properties of essential oils can be used to balance the chakras, cleanse the auric field in an aura massage, in absent healing, meditation, ritual etc.

Bowen
What is the Bowen technique?
Bowen Technique (Bowtech) is a gentle form of body work in which very subtle moves over soft tissue or fascia, stimulate specific receptors that enable the body to correct dysfunctions and restore homeostasis within the body.
Where did The Bowen Technique originate?
The Bowen Technique (Bowtech) was developed in the 1950’s by the late Tom Bowen from Geelong, Australia. Tom Bowen became a celebrated therapist, regularly treating over 13,000 patients each year. In 1974, he invited Oswald Rentsch and his wife Elaine to study with him and document his work. They began to teach the technique in 1986. Since then, over 20,000 therapists worldwide have been trained as Bowen therapists.
What is Bowtech and how does it work?
Bowtech is a gentle form of body work in which very subtle moves over soft tissue or fascia stimulate specific receptors that enable the body to correct dysfunctions and restore homeostasis within the body.
There are frequent but very essential pauses throughout the session (approx. 2 minutes.) that allow the body time to respond and begin the healing process. The practitioner can target a specific problem or address the body as a whole.
Unlike many other hands-on therapies, there is no forceful manipulation in Bowen. A Bowen therapist is able to discern stress build up in muscles and other soft tissue enabling them to perform specific Bowen moves to assist recovery.
The technique not only addresses the musculoskeletal framework, but also the fascia, nerves and internal organs. The body’s biofeedback response improves circulation and lymphatic drainage and aids in the assimilation of nutrients and elimination of toxins.
A Bowen session takes 30 – 60 minutes and can be performed directly on the skin or through the clothing. Following a session, a deep sense of overall relaxation is felt and it is advisable to drink plenty of filtered water each day (approx. 6-8 glasses) to assist in the release of toxins from the body. It is also advisable to refrain from any other body therapies for a week following a Bowen session, as this may interrupt the flow and effectiveness of the treatment.
What is Mind & Body Bowen Technique?
The Mind & Body Bowen therapist performs the same Bowen ‘moves’ or procedures, as well as ‘listening’ to the body and its responses following each set of ‘moves’. This assists the therapist to link the responses in the body to the meridians and their associated muscle groups and emotions, according to the Traditional Chinese Medicine model. This technique allows the client’s story to unfold. As the emotional patterns are identified, the body then releases or ‘unwinds’ past trauma, emotions and blocks that have stopped the flow of energy in the body, caused pain, stress and diseased states.
What can Bowen Technique assist with:
- Back pain & sciatic pain
- Digestive & bowel problems - irritable bowel syndrome
- Earache, ear infections, headaches & migraines
- Fibromyalgia & chronic fatigue syndrome
- Knee, ankle & foot problems – plantar fasciitis, bunions
- Menstrual & hormonal irregularities – infertility
- Neck & shoulder problems – frozen shoulder
- Groin pain, pelvic tilt & uneven leg length
- Respiratory problems – asthma, hay fever & sinus problems
- RSI, carpal tunnel syndrome & tennis elbow
- Sports injuries & accident injuries
- Bedwetting & incontinence
- Pregnancy – morning sickness, back pain etc.
- Babies & children – ADHD, colic, behavioural problems
How does the Bowen technique help with infertility?
Bowtech has been used successfully in Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom in the treatment of infertile couples who have had other physical problems ruled out.
It helps infertility by:
- Balancing the endocrine system and the pelvic area
- Regulating the menstrual cycle
- Enhancing the fertility of both mal and female
- Relieving mental and emotional stress associated with infertility

Bush Flower Essences
What are Flower Essences?
Flower Essences work on the mind, body and spirit, and are obtained by extracting the healing vibrational quality from the most evolved part of the plant - the flowers. They work on an emotional level, harmonizing negative feelings and belief patterns held in the subconscious mind.
How are they prepared?
Flower Essences are prepared by imprinting a flower’s unique vibrational healing signature onto a carrier solution of brandy and water. This is achieved by working with flowers, under ideal conditions, that are growing in the wild in an environment free from pollution, roads and power lines. These flowers are collected and without being touched directly by the individual, placed in a bowl of pure water and left in direct sun for several hours. The flowers are then removed from the bowl, using a twig or a leaf from the same plant. The remaining flower water is then added to an equal amount of Australian brandy and this mixture is referred to as the Mother tincture. The latter is further diluted to produce the stock concentration which in turn is also diluted in order to prepare the dosage strength.
The Bush Essences give us the sensitivity, strength and courage to listen to and follow both our intuition as well as our goals and dreams.
How do Flower Essences work?
The Australian Bush Flower Essences bring forth the positive qualities that reside deep inside every one of us. Their activation allows us to replace fear with courage, hatred with love, insecurity with self confidence, etc.
When an Essence is ingested or absorbed through the skin, it is initially assimilated into the bloodstream. Then it settles midway between the circulatory and nervous systems. There, an electromagnetic current is created by the polarity of the two systems. The Essence then moves directly to the meridians, which are vital mechanisms of interface between the subtle bodies and the physical body. From the meridians the Flower Essence is amplified out to the chakras and various subtle bodies and then back again to the physical body. The amplification also magnifies the life force potency of the Essence and aids in its assimilation. The Essence reaches the imbalanced parts of the body faster and in a more stable form.
Are Australian Bush Flower Essences safe to take?
Flower Essences are completely natural. They are perfectly safe, free from side effects and are self adjusting to the needs of the individual taking them. Occasionally the symptoms for which the person is taking the remedy can become more intense for a day or two. This is part of the healing process, and in fact, is called a ‘healing crisis.’ It is not a bad sign as it is indicative of the healing that will soon follow. In a ‘healing crisis’ we would recommend that an individual either stop the remedy for a day or two or alternatively take the remedy more frequently – four or five times a day.
The Bush Essences use brandy as a preservative agent, is there an alternative to brandy?
Brandy is added to the Bush Essences as a preservative agent, however, the alcohol content in a dose is almost infinitesimal. If you would prefer to not have brandy in your essences, they can be made with just purified water. However, if you are using purified water, it would be best to keep the bottle in a cool place or in the refrigerator. The shelf life would only be two weeks whereas with brandy it is at least three years.
Can I take Australian Bush Flower Essences when I am currently using other medication?
Yes, Australian Bush Flower Essences can be taken whilst under treatment with natural and/or pharmaceutical medications with no negative effects whatsoever.
What if I selected and took the wrong Bush Flower Essence?
The subtle energies of the essences will address current and presenting issues only, so there is no danger of taking the wrong essence. The remedies are self adjusting and without side effects. If you did not need the benefit of the remedy then nothing would happen, it simply would not work.
Can I use Australian Bush Flower Essences with children?
Yes. Australian Bush Flower Essences are an effective drug free solution for adults, children and even your pets. In fact they work extremely quickly on children and animals as they do not have as many emotional blocks as adults generally do. We recommend the same dose for children as adults and animals as well, i.e. 7 drops on rising and retiring.
Can I take more than one Essence at a time?
It is far more effective to focus on just one issue and one dosage bottle at a time, otherwise the results can be scattered due to the lack of one main focus to address. You can, however, use a remedy for a one off acute situation whilst still taking another remedy over the standard two or four week period, e.g. Emergency Essence.
Will food, drink or toothpaste harm the Essences?
The Australian Bush Flower Essences are not ante-doted by strong aromatic substances such as toothpaste, coffee, garlic or Essential Oils. However, it is best advised to wait a few minutes before or after taking the remedy before eating or drinking anything (except water) as well as cleaning your teeth.

Tissue Salts
How long do I need to stay on Tissue Salts for them to be effective?
It is best to stay on Tissue Salts for at least 1 – 3 months and then access whether there is a need to continue by the state of your overall health
Can pregnant women take Tissue Salts safely throughout their pregnancy?
Yes, Schuessler Tissue Salts are safe to be taken prior, during and after your pregnancy.
Are Schuessler Tissue Salts safe for Diabetics?
Schuessler Tissue Salts sprays were especially formulated for Diabetics. The sprays are a combination of the mineral salt, ethanol, glycerin and spring water.
Why do I need to use the Tissue Salt Cream if I am already using the same Tissue Salt?
Using the Schuessler Tissue Salt tablet or spray in conjunction with the cream encourages a speedier recovery. The creams permeate deep within the layers of the skin allowing balance to take place more rapidly.
Can I use the Tissue Salt cream on its own?
Yes, however it depends on the severity of your conditions. For instance if you are treating Varicose Veins the Calc Fluor cream would improve the external condition of the veins but taking Calc Fluor in either tablet form or spray form would need to be taken internally to prevent the varicose veins from spreading. Always treat chronic conditions internally and externally.
Can I give Schuessler Tissue Salts to my pets?
Yes, all the Schuessler Tissue Salts can be given to your pets. The Tissue Salts can be crushed and added to your pets food or simply add 2 sprays to the pet’s water a few times per day making sure to change the water each time.
Can I use the Tissue Salt Creams alongside Cortisone or other creams prescribed?
Both creams are very different – one is natural and the other is synthetic. The Tissue Salt cream will not interfere with the Cortisone cream but it would be best to apply the Tissue Salt cream first.
Can infants have the Tissue Salt creams applied to their skin?
Yes, the Tissue Salt creams as with all Tissue Salts tablets are natural making them so very gentle that even babies can use the entire range.
Is it better to take single Tissue Salts or Combinations?
The reason combinations were formulated was to make it easy for the individual to take if they needed more than a few remedies. They are both effective and it very much depends on your condition.
